June 3, 2022, ATYRAU – Tengizchevroil’s (TCO) Future Growth Project-Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP) has safely achieved another key milestone with the launch of an Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC) at Tengiz.
Upon FGP-WPMP completion, the IOCC will help TCO achieve its goal to increase crude oil production by approximately 12 million tonnes per year, while continuing to maintain a high focus on reducing total environmental impact.
This state-of-the art IOCC facility applies the latest digital technologies and is the only facility of its kind in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry. It will integrate the management of all TCO’s production plants into one control center and operating model.
TCO General Director, Kevin Lyon said: “I am proud of the TCO team for their spirit of collaboration to achieve this tremendous milestone. The utilization of the IOCC will help TCO maintain safe and reliable operations, as well as deliver incremental value to the Republic of Kazakhstan, our shareholders, employees and communities where we operate.”
The IOCC will be located 20 km away from TCO’s production facilities. It also includes a 2200 square meter central control room which is designed to provide Tengiz field operators with the flexibility to make better decisions, improve reliability and optimize production performance.
Since inception, TCO has been investing in new facilities and applying the latest technologies and continues to be a leading contributor to Kazakhstani economy. Since 1993, the company has made direct financial payments of more than $164 billion, including more than $42 billion spent on local goods and services.
“We are very pleased to see that over 30 Kazakhstani companies and more than 600 employees, contributed to the construction and commissioning of this world class facility. By working on the commissioning of the IOCC the local workforce has also improved their knowledge and skills through comprehensive training and being part of this unique experience,” said TCO Deputy General Director, Konilkosh Suyessinov.
FGP-WPMP is currently 91% complete. The remaining work is now focused on finalizing construction and systems completion activities in Tengiz.
