On June 16, Tengizchevroil (TCO) participated in PetroHR-2023 Forum on workforce development and training for the oil and gas industry, where more than 300 top managers from oil and gas operators and service companies from various regions of the country and abroad, attended the event.
The current state of labor resources, trends in working with personnel and contribution of each company to the development of professional personnel were discussed during the forum. Deputy Akim of Atyrau Oblast Marat Murziev emphasized that our region is the main engine of the economy of Kazakhstan, and for further development it is extremely important to pay attention to the training of qualified personnel.
Large–scale projects will be implemented in Atyrau Oblast soon - construction of plants for the production of liquefied petroleum gas, polyethylene and butadiene, including a Gas Separation Complex. And all of these projects will require qualified personnel who will be able to transform and modernize production processes, increase efficiency of the companies and ensure their competitiveness, - said the Deputy Akim of Atyrau Oblast. It should be noted that KMG PetroChem LLP (a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunayGas) and TCO signed the Heads of Agreements (Basic Conditions) necessary for implementation of a Gas Separation Complex project. Details about the project are here.
As noted by Brigitte Sumter McDaniel, Deputy General Manager of TCO Human Resources , , TCO implements strategic programs and processes so that at any time the company has a reliable personnel pool with abilities, knowledge, skills, leadership qualities and experience necessary to occupy key managerial and technical positions.
TCO culture is what makes us successful and helps us realize our vision of being the safest, most efficient and profitable oil and gas company in the world, which commands respect for the professionalism of its employees, partnerships and production performance, - noted Brigitte Sumter McDaniel.
The main focus of TCO industrial relations is to maintain productive and harmonious relations between business partners and their employees involved in TCO facilities to ensure a stable working environment, continuity of production activities, prevention and minimization of industrial conflicts.
TCO pays special attention to personnel development. As a result of ongoing training and personnel development programs, more employees are being promoted to responsible positions. Excluding FGP-WPMP personnel, 95% of TCO employees are Kazakhstanis. Thirty years ago, in 1993, this figure was 50%.
During its activity, the company has created over 300 thousand jobs throughout Kazakhstan. At the same time, it should be noted that TCO places a high emphasis on safety at work, and the wellbeing of its workforce. The company has implemented the most advanced production management technologies, high standards of work at its facilities and passes this experience to its contractors, thereby stimulating their growth and development.
To date TCO has invested over $95 million in employee training. In summer of 2003, a craft training center was opened in Atyrau, where over five thousand people were trained and received international-level qualification certificates. During the implementation of FGP-WPMP, TCO paid for training of more than 25 thousand people, who then worked in the company’s contracting organizations. Kazakhstani specialists and companies who have gained experience in Tengiz are also competitive in foreign markets, and already receive orders or are employed on foreign projects.
